The following bins are available as part of the Spring 2008 grant cycle. Only one style of bin may be requested through the grant. Most grant awards will fall within the ranges described next to each style, though compelling proposals may receive more. Applicants interested in additional bins should request the desired quantity and indicate where prompted whether they will accept a partial grant. Multiple applications may be submitted by the same organization as long they are unique requests.

Bin Type #1: Special Event / Corrugated Cardboard
The Corrugated Cardboard receptacles are ideal for one-time, large special events that call for recycling stations in many locations for a finite period of time. They can be stored and distributed flat allowing for assembly in place. Designed to be used with a bag liner, the bins will hold up for two or three uses, or more depending on their conditions of use. At the end of their useful life they can be recycled with along with other cardboard boxes.
Technical Notes:
Recommended grant request: 50 to 500 units

Bin Type #2: Special Event / Clear Canable (Windsor Barrel Works)
The Clear Canable bins are a durable, permanent alternative to the Corrugated Cardboard bin. Also designed for use in special event settings, these bins are made of clear 100% pre-consumer recycled content plastic. Each bin consists of three separate pieces, a circular top and bottom and a flat plastic sheet that is rolled and snapped tight with five clips to form a circular vertical wall. The bins can be disassembled for compact storage between uses, making them convenient for multiple events throughout the year. The bins are well suited for coordinated bin-lending programs.
Technical Notes:
Recommended grant request: 10 to 75 units

Bin Type #3: General Utility / Bottle Bin
These bottle-shaped bins can be used in informal indoor settings such as break rooms, building lobbies or cafeterias. They can also be used short term in an outdoor setting such as a fair or similar promotional event. The upper section of the bin is removed directly above the red mid-section to allow the contents to be emptied.
Technical Notes:
Recommended grant request: 5 to 30 units

Bin Type #4: General Utility / Waste Watcher (Busch Systems)
The rectangular-shaped Waste Watcher bins are appropriate for general use situations such as break rooms, classrooms and hallways. In addition to regular use in permanent locations, the bins are stackable and lightweight allowing for easy transportation for special events. They can be used in outdoor settings, but are best left to covered locations.
Technical Notes:
Recommended grant request: 10 to 60 units

Bin Type #5: Prestige / Slant Top (Windsor Barrel Works)
The Slant Top bins are designed for permanent, outdoor locations where aesthetic considerations are important.
